My sensor is right before the turbo (SPG) and the 'normal' range seems
to be 1000-1300F during normal cruising. Off-throttle coasting will bring
it down quickly to 700-800F. Full-throttle will peg it past 1600F quickly.
The gage is basically useless because you are presumably worried about things
getting too hot, but 1600F is too low.

The maximum allowed EGT depends on the your hardware, valves, turbo and so on.(EGT at turbine inlet)
I stay below 980 deg C [1796F] for "street applications".
For endurance it´s nice if the EGT can stay lower.
Some Turbos are designed to handle 1050 deg C continously, some can barely handle 930 deg C....
Check max permissable EGT for your unit with your turbo supplier !
