Matt, the OEM brake calipers mount directly to the spindle(thingie that holds the wheel bearing). "Radial" refers to the mounting style of the caliper. Typically most calipers are of the lug style in which mounting bolts run horizontally through the caliper body to secure it to the spindle. Radial mount calipers are different in that the mounting bolts run vertically through the caliper body to secure it to the spindle.
