Quicker=faster, no doubt about it. But you have to come to a conclusion on what you are really trying to accomplish. Taking your seats out and replacing them and with plywood is really not making it any faster. Do you want to auto-x? If so, take seats out, hell take everything out that you can and replace with with "nothing". Or are you going for the cool factor? In other words, if you want something different, then just do it, but leave the weight savings out of it if your just replacing seats with plywood. Want to really save, start with unsprung weight and go from there.
You have one of the nicest 'street' saabs on this site. If I were you, I would keep it the way it is, but i'm not you. Can't "weight" to see what you come up with. But before you start this, take car to weigh station and weight it without you in it. Then do it after. My 911 weighs (last weekend) 2104. That's pretty light, but I have taken a hell of a lot of crap out of it.
Have fun!
