My experience is primarily with 9000s, but for what it's worth...
1. Euro spec cars that came without a cat were rated 10hp higher (170 vs 160) so you could expect the same by removing yours.
2. There's some debate about this. I wouldn't expect a "drop in" K&N type filter to generate any meaningful amount power. You might see a boost with a conical K&N type filter bolted to the AMM, but this is also more likely to suck in hot under hood air. The best bet is to devise a more freely flowing type system that still gets cold air. With a good set up you might see a 5hp gain as well as increaed induction noise.
3. A factory "red box" is rated at 20hp more than stock. Of course "stage 2" boxes are also available. I imagine you could achieve results very close to those of the red box by careful adjustment of the pots in your stock box. A 2.8 or 3.0bar fuel pressure regulator is recommended and quite cheap though arguably not necesary.
Hope this helps,
Craig
