Hello Damien!
Sorry for not filling in with details. We will use E85 Ethanol fuel. It has 106+ octane rating so pinging shouldn't be as much of a problem at high boost levels as it is with ordinary RON98 fuel.
Cams are ground from raw materials and springs have 40% more tension, so valve float is not a issue. Only thing that we don't have means of doing "correctly" yet is swaping pistons and rods for some better/lighter Venolia/JT/Verdi combo. My idea is to use original T5 B234 pistons and rods and see how long they last. They should be the very best of SAAB pistons, according to rumours.
ECU to be used is standard T5 with ion-sensing , remapped for higher rev-limit,boost and bigger injectors.
So issue here is:
Can standard T5 pistons and rods rev to maximum 7000 revs w/o being destroyed? I know they can survive heaps of boost, being pretty heavy and over-engineered but I'm unsure about revs.
I say 7000 revs beacuse i calculated everything else and picked appropriate cam-grind so we can have rev-limiter set around 7000 RPM. This is important as we use 4-gear tranny so usable rev range must extend into at least 6700 RPM in order to avoid holes in torque-curve.
Thanx!
