But are you using the stock valves, valve springs, and hydraulic lifters?
These are the parts to change out for long-term use at high rpms. For my 2.0L Turbo
race motor we started with the same head that you have, although it was sourced from
a new-gen 900 (’94-’98). It has solid lifters, dual valve springs, camshafts ground from
raw castings, and larger valves with longer stems and guides. Our design goal is 8000
rpms without stressing the valvetrain. This costs a fortune, but it is the ‘ultimate’ way to go.
For your application, I don’t think that is necessary. The 2.3T is a torque monster with
lots of power in low-to-midrange (at least with normal cams). I don't think you will
need/want to be cranking above 7k very often. Maybe just when it makes sense to stay
in gear to avoid a time-consuming upshift and downshift.
Boost sounds fine - if you use Trionic you can't really hurt the motor because
it is always looking out for knocking and can vary timing and fuel for each cylinder!
What engine control system will you be using?
