They don't always work

I know plenty of police and they will blow away any of the fancy valentine 1, ect, radar detectors all the time. One of my friends after pulling someone over with a radar(lazar) detector will show how ineffective the units are by simply pointing it at the car and the alarm not going off. The driver then tells him that they paid over $300 for it, and then he says I guess you paid $300 to much. Personally I think a radar detector an a alert driver is the best combo. I've also seen in ads some new indash radar detectors with lazar diffusers on the license plates. I've asked some about these units, but no one has seen one yet pulled over on a car. If I was to buy a radar detector it would be a indash unit with a lazar diffuser made by k40 or Bell/passport.
