Taylor,
I think you should consider trying to make this the 'ultimate' c900 kit, and here is how I think that can happen:
IC must be plumbed over-the-top of the radiator, and then drop down in front of the radiator. This will minimize tubing lengths and maximize IC surface area.
How do you get over the top? Well Vincent T. once tried this setup with a 9000 IC and a standard c900 radiator, which was kicked back at an angle to accommodate the IC piping. This setup was scrapped for technical reasons, but it could work with purpose-made brackets and some more development.
A shorter radiator could be used - just enough to fit pipes over the top - not like mine, which is 1/2, the height of the stock radiator and can barely cool the motor! My fully custom radiator was only $200 and was made-to-order with all the correct Saab fittings, etc. Not too bad considering that 1) most people probably need a new radiator anyway, and 2) this is way cheaper than the IC itself!
I wish there was technology to put an IC pipe right through a radiator...possibly by bending the radiator tubes, or joining the radiator tubes right where the IC pipe goes through...I'm not sure. But then you could have a full-height radiator with a full-size FMIC and barely give up any cooling in either function. And you don't pay any penalty in turbo lag due to overly complex IC piping with multiple 90- and 180- degree bends.
Just some ideas for you!
