Dean, as always an excellent post. Thanks.
My car is in fact a ’99 9-3 (with a paltry 45k miles). I think that “darty” is a good description. At lower speeds it feels fine if a bit over-assisted but at higher speeds it feels darty or just a little loose. It does not feel very smooth and like there is a little too much play in the steering, although I don’t think there actually is. It just feels that way, if that makes sense.
I have not adjusted the toe-in and have to admit that I don’t know what the toe-in is (I picked up my first wrench about eight months ago). My tire pressure is somewhat high at 35lbs but still well below the max recommended of 40lbs. I will drop down to 33lbs or so and see if that helps.
Upper mounts and thrust bearings are stock, as are everything other then the VRK, control arm bushings (from Nick), rear sway bar (Nick as well) and MBC+A from Jeff here in Atlanta.
All of the upgrades have been awesome until I installed the new tires. Ever since the car has just seemed a little off. The rubber inside the clamp seems to be in place and the clamp is firmly in place. I will try to explore some of the other suggestions and let everyone know what I come up with. Thanks again.
