Agreed, but lets not kill this thing. I'm not an automotive engineer either but as an undergrad english student I learned that there's value in bigger-picture original thought and invention. As an electro/mechanical engineer I'm pretty lazy and feel there's not much point in reinventing the wheel when it's been done and simplified a bunch of times--and it's already been done when considering getting enough fuel to an engine, take a look at: "Forced Induction Performance Tuning", "Four-Stroke Performance Tuning", both A. Graham Bell, "Turbochargers", Hugh MacInnes (not a real great one), and "Maximum Boost", Corky Bell. The first and last are pretty good, Forced Induction is the better in my opinion and is put-together and written with more care than Maximum Boost.
But if you really want to get into it at a base level, get an SAE membership and they'll send you two cool magazines a month. If you're really crazy like most hard-core math guys I know, with that membership you'll also have cheap access to a slew of papers too--I've only used that once because it's still a little pricey.
If you're lazy you can go straight to rceng.com and type some numbers into their little calculator for a pretty good number.
