The water here is VERY deep so I will walk carefully.I clame no great engering expertise, only a trail of some success and some failures.Four years ago my 99viggen became "the never ending project".This may shed some light on the result of systematicly adding HW with a good ECU.My goal is to mantain reliability/driveability/handeling and power in that order. The progression is as follows:
(1)base whp 215 -three stock viggens dynoed this at SOC-2,I do not have this for mine but I beleve it is a good number.
(2)ITG filter,Abbott ecu,supply pipe and IC.-232whp
(3)SpeedParts stage-3 ecu,3"down pipe&racing cat-243whp at SOC 2
(4)SpeedParts tube header-253whp
(5) completed 3" exhaust-no whp increase,but a fatter power band
(6)Abbott dilivery pipe-264whp
(7)Maptune tdo4-18/6cm2 turbo 289wh- 326 fpt

All of the runs were made on a Dynojet dyno-callibrated ?I made sure the a/f stayed around 12.5 ,most of the dyno runs were made in the summer around 75f.With the stock turbo the power fell off at 5000rpm 'with the 18/6cm2 it pulled to 6500 rpm/fuel shut off. With the small exhaust the egt was 1200 crusing /1400 wot-3" 1000 cruising/1400wot
The above may show absolutely nothing or it may show hardware can be installed and get a good result with out blowing your motor.
I have about 500 track miles on my car with no problems,on the road I get 26 to 27 mpg.The performance has been added without any compromise, save for a litte gas milage.
I will soon be taking the motor apart so I can see what it looks like inside,I will be putting it back as a 2.5 ltr-ed
