Ed I think the main issue here is tha I your case we are talking about a modded ECU, which calibration parameters can be what ever.

Do you know why you made that much more power with the TDO4-18/6?

This is just my point of view, but I could be true for the SP/BSR ECU also.
I my case the my custom ECU will ask much more airmass than the stock turbo can ever push, so if I where to plug in a bigger turbo the SW set airmass would be reached. I know the design parameters (airmass request) values for my ECU and I also know what I achieve on normal bases. I wont get into details, but lets just say the weather needs to be pretty darn cold in order for the turbo to deliver the requested ammount. -15deg C is not enough :) I call this non achieved airmass "backlog" which to my knowledge the stock saab ECU doe not have. In other words my car would probably be closer to "design" values with a new turbo than it can ever be with the stock 15T
From reliable sources I got the info that this "over requesting" is pretty commong with aftermarket ECU's.

One new case for the record called in today, 9-3 LPT. Guy takes a jump start to tuning and istalles viggen turbo and 3" DP, race cat, full exhaust. Custom ECU is due tuesday. This car was planned to be kept at his garabe, but an urgent matter got him on highway. Despite all warnings he took off.
Result, after 150 miles of normal highway driving CEL comes on, turbo is glowing red. Maybe little lean there??? ;) Dont know cause off CEL.

I strange to see that with stock cams you can get max power to redline?
