Yah. I took out the center plug along with the spring and plastic plunger before taking out the tensioner. So I think the measurements are valid.
On the other hand, the chain looks really good and the sprockets on the cams dont look worn at all.
I just got back from the machine shop. Star Machine in Emeryville for anyone in the Bay Area. Father and son team. Friendly people.
They had just cleaned the head. I had never really looked at one before in detail. The son pointed out that there was 'speckling and slight pitting on the underside edge of the valves'. He also said that the seats looked pounded, probably because of excess heat from extra oil getting into the combustion chambers because of something or other.
I dunno what they should look like. So to be safe, I told them to go ahead and do a valve job.
