Kind of like the turbo bypass valve/hooter valve/dump valve/recirculating valve: All pretty much the same thing. We tuners do well trying to confuse each other. Jargon gettin' in the way.
BPC makes more sense, and it is what both factory trained technicians I know call it. APC is wider in scope than BPC in function and as a name, while the solenoid is directly in line with boost pressure control. Makes good sense to me. Perhaps technicians changed the name when the NGs came out to make it easier on themselves (since it is about the same item, anyway)
Regardless, who cares what it is called. Increasing the restriction freaking works!!! (see post from MichaelG above)
