the annual water cleanout treatment is one of my favorite things to do. I've heard it's best done with a well heated engine, and while driving at around 60mph down the highway. A vac hose connected to the throttle body and run into the cabin. I use a set of surgical clamps to keep the hose closed until ready. Then just stick the free end into a 2 liter water bottle and loosen the clamp. The engine begins to miss and stall after a time, which is my sign to shut down the flow with the clamp. I repeat that pattern until the bottle is empty. Water does wonders to loosen all that junk left over from hydrocarbon based combustion. Thermal shock (cold on hot surfaces)and steam action is why it works.
