The fact that t/a can be deflated enough to wrinkle would lead me to believe that they do not have the kind of stiff sidewalls you'd want in auto-x tire...but give it a shot for sure.
On reason I brought up alignemnt is that many cars have a decent amount of rear neg camber dialed in. This is big contributer to understeer. I don't think there is anyway to change this on the 9000, but if there is it would be something to look into. If you can't dial out the neg from the rear, you can dial in some more neg upfront, which will help increase front traction in turns (resulting is relatively less rear traction) Many autocrossers will run agressive camber like -1.5 upfront (depends on car of course)....although at that point you are getting in a zone where you may lose some straight line traction.
