To get more power, you need to burn more fuel during every combustion. The more bang - the more stress. And there are limits to the strength of modern alloys, left alone the engines of 20 year old designs.. It's obvious... The more cyclinders an engine has, the better stress is distrubuted, hence longer service life/reliability. Nothing's for free...
I'm glad you have a trouble-free mod, and I hope you will engoy this power for a long time to come. But it's only a single example. We're talking production numbers here...
