Chad,
You defintely have some problems with that car, but maybe you have some problems with the dealer you're going to.....there are differences. We've had Saabs for 25 years, and while none of them were as trouble-free as some of the Japanese cars, we've always enjoyed driving them, they suited our needs, and have been treated absolutely above-board by the dealerships and the Saab organization. That being said, let me quickly tell you about my Mercedes and BMW experiences. After totalling my wife's pristine 9000 in 1996, I attempted to make up for it by her buying a C-class Mercedes. This car was as flawless as a car could be....not a rattle, nothing but normal maintenance, and only a couple of issues that required a trip to the dealer under warranty. My wife drove it for five years until I sold it to my sister (it's still as perfect as an 11 year old car can be) only because my wife thought it was "boring." She was right and I bought her another Saab. The new Saab wasn't put together like the Mercedes, but it was, and still is, alot of fun. Then, just five months ago for our anniversary, I bought her a BMW Z4. Besides the fact that my wife underestimated what it's like to live with a 2-seater on an everyday basis, the car was a headache. In four months of ownership, it was at the dealer approximately 10 times. It was never repaired properly by the techs at this particular dealer and the overall quality control of the way the car was screwed together just wasn't there. We had a 330i loaner for a week and it was a truly nice car. We entertained the thought of trading the Z4 for a 3 series car (which is made in Germany as opposed to South Carolina), but my wife reminded me of the mediocre work that was done at this dealer.....it just soured us on the whole BMW experience, although we were always treated promptly and courteously. Four weeks ago, I sold the BMW and got her a 9-3ss Aero with a 6-speed. She feels that she's still in a sports/sporty car and mentally at ease being back in a Saab. I forced her to look at and drive some other cars such as a Lexus IS350, Acura TL, and Infiniti G-35 coupe & sedean. All very nice cars, but she did not want to leave the Saab organization. I've seen my dealer working very hard on certain "problem cars," calling in district reps, etc. when the techs can't quite eliminate an issue. One way or another, I hope you work out the problems, but any car has the ability to cause headaches.
