Pinch protection started going off "early" the first warm day after a snowy winter. So, I looked up "Windows" in the index of the Owners' Manual. No entry for "Windows." So I checked here and found entries for "pinch protection", but not my model car. Fortunately, I have the download from the GM Owners Center and searched it. There are detailed instructions for calibrating the Pinch Protection in a 2008. Except they start out "The car must be running at idling speed. The battery charger must not be connected to the car’s battery during calibration." What "battery charger"?
So I went through all the steps, since there was no battery charger to disconnect, and nothing changed.
The car's still under warranty, the dealer took it in a 5 minutes to 5:00 and: (1) lowered the window with the engine "off", (2) a guy held the window down while another guy put the switch "up" (this overloaded the motor and it shut off -- "zeroing" the Pinch Protection); (3) the guy inside turned the engin "on" (4) raised the window all the way; (5) lowered it a little; (6) raised it all the way; (7) lowered it a little farther, etc. and kept this up until something beeped on the dash.
He cycled it a few more times. Now it's OK. They had no clue what the manual was saying.
It's fixed. But this is an incredible procedure.
