Lets face it, GM cannot effectively provide warranty coverage if there is no dealer network. Do you think your local Chevy dealer is going to provide competent service work on your Saab?

Also in the case of requirement to provide parts, there is a big gotcha with that which has been experienced by other displaced brands in the past. That is a projection is made of the parts that will be required based on past sales. However certain parts take longer to wear out than others. So down the road say 4 years when everyone's muffler bearings wear out, the total available supply is quickly depleted and NO more are available. This is not an issue for common wear items which the after market can supply, but specialized components say transmission parts or computers can strip every junk yard in the country and then what? Besides which no "factory" warranty will be looking in junk yards for parts, they will just tell you "sorry, can't fix it"
It is a very bleak prospect for owners who want to buy a car with a workable warranty and not have to think about their car for the duration. As a former Rover 2000 , Rover 3500 , early Range Rover owner I can tell you that you can do it if you are upclose and personal with your vehicle you can keep them going. However I'm not sure I have the energy to go through that again!

Lets hope a buyer is found for Saab and all of the above issues are moot!

Bill
