John Myers, regarding B284 oil pressure switch Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Fri, 21 Oct 2011 11:23:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Since you are the devil in replacing the switch without removing the starter on B205/235 engines. How do you deal with this B284 debacle in getting to the switch.
I did my first yesterday and boy was that a long road to get to having to remove air intake pipes and turbo pipes and then move radiator slightly to get the plastic boost pipe out so that you could get close to the sensor.
With everything in place you can barely see the switch with a mirror and flashlight.
Had a flickering oil light but when hooking up a manual gauge to turbo banjo bolt (at least that was easy) I saw no problems with the real oil pressure but looking at live data with Tech 2 showed a steady 880 kPa even with engine not running.
A new switch cured the problem and live data show.
24 kPa cold and warm KOEO
490 kPa idle cold engine
190 kPa idle warm engine
650 max rpm/torque warm engine
450 kPa 2000 rpm warm engine
