How many miles on the car coming in for service?
John's recommendation of doing all this at 120K mile intervals has me concerned. I've heard a lot of scary stories recently regarding GM's engine designs such as:
- Multiple cases of terminal engine failure before 30K miles for the 3.6(?) liter V6 used in their large Cross-over vehicles with full Dealer service at OLM intervals.
- Timing chain/sprocket failures in the L4 and L5 engines used in their compact pick-up trucks at low mileage points due to inadequate lubrication.
I can only imagine the horror tales that will arise from their decision to turbo-charge a 1.4 liter engine for an entry level car (Sonic & Cruze) that will likely see nearly no service due to demographics of target buyers (tight budgets and/or poorly informed about engines).
