BUT!!!
The problem here is that we can find multiple similar stories with people having no problems at all and multiple stories of other having had big problems doing both jump start and leaving keys in ignition.
It is no 100% fool proof way to say that one or the other will never encounter any problems or that they will have problems.
We just don't know the exact string of events that kills electronic components.
A couple of ways to play it safe is to turn off the radio and remove ignition key when charging the battery and not charge it with too big of a boost charger.
If jump starting from another car, leave the other car connected so that his alternator charge up your battery before attempting to start.
Voltage spikes that surge through the system when the starter is cranking over is what you should avoid.
I have said it before. Many and most people would never even consider pulling the computer power cord out of the wall outlet every time you want to shut off your computer. It will work most of the time though, so why don't they do that but instead uses the shut down command?
If done enough times and when the stars are lined up for you, that's when trouble happens and it might cost a pretty penny.
Earlier 9-3 (03-04) were also more sensitive than later years.
