How much gas does your tank take when empty?

hey there,
I now have a '08 9-3 aero sc and have yet to put in more than 15 gallons of gas when filling up.
Maybe the tank is a bit smaller than my '01 9-3, but after some reading, my current tank should be 16. I've gotten the computer DTE down to 16 miles which I thought would mean fumes.

What are others' experience with this? How much gas do you put in when empty?
