Hey all….so supposedly the source of this burning small and slight smoking has been diagnosed on my 04 Arc 9-3. After replacing the timing cover and valve cover gaskets, my indie has diagnosed it as a headgasket leak at the back of the engine. Estimate is $2,200 (approx $1100 labor, $600 parts, $500 to machine deck surface, valve job, and pressure test). Plus he says he would need it for at least a week.
I asked about re-torquing as I have seen other suggest in some of my research, and he states that is not an option due to the fact that each cylinder bolt is what's called "torque to yield", and is to only be tourqued once in essence. Anyone’s thoughts on this??
Have spent about 4-5K in the last 2 years with a variety of repairs, everything seem to go wrong at once, just wondering if its getting to the point where its not for it anymore.
According to Saabsite, the 9-5 engine can be re-tourqued, and as I have said, I have seen other post they have done it on 9-3.
