Final couple of questions. Your indulgence and comments would be appreciated.
This car, in my shadetree mechanic (backed by countless hours of internet useage, LOL) may not be a loss. I have only comprehensive, so it's all on me (or my son) to fix. I took these pictures and after taking them, realized the mechanical appears intact. I need to check underbody- especially the steering and structure. cabin structure appears OK- body lines are not twisted or warped - again, to my eyes. Much of what I see is cosmetic. I was planning to pay for a house call, if they will do it, for a local body shop that I trust to come out for a full appraisal.
In theory, 'everything' is repairable. What would be a death blow to a vehicle that may be worth 5K-6K retail (Aside from the obvious 8K repair bill. I should be able to source glass, side mirrors, and even most body parts locally. There are 4 9-3 sedans in the local pick-a-part.
So I ask... What would be a showstopper... something you would not you child to drive?
What should I look out for as a hidden problem? (My guess is body alignment and cabin structure.
Thanks again!
Joe
