I don't own a 2004 but I do own a 2003 Vector. The car has been in multiple front end collisions, the rebar is pushed all the way against the intercooler/condenser/radiator. So much so that I couldn't remove them if I wanted to without removing the rebar. It has never left me stranded on the side of the road and is now approaching 190,000 miles. Yes it has had all the typical SS BS, but the bottom line is that the car is safe and now putting a smile on a newly licensed 17 year old.
My personal daily driver is a 2006 SportCombi, that car has been extremely reliable and is now approaching 170,000 miles. That car has not had the typical SS BS and has been a real pleasure to own. Just installed a STG1 tune on it and now it feels more like the Vector for acceleration which is nice.
Own a 2005 Vert, that one is just passing 100,000 miles and so far so good.
To be fair I did own a 2003 Linear Launch Edition and that engine lost compression around 190,000 miles. Never did tear down the engine to see what happened but did confirm the timing chain was still moving during crank. That engine had the bottom replaced under warranty around 50,000 for the pourus engine recall. Also the Linear was a Garret turbo LPT where as all the above mentioned cars are Mitsubishi HPT.
