Would love to hear thoughts from those who have had this issue or are familiar with it.
2006 9-3 Aero 2.8t v6, auto transmission, 50K miles
Got under the car tonight and noticed that the bottom of the oil pan looked wet with oil and my last oil change was months ago so I stuck my head under further and the black switch in the rear of oil pan just above the drain plug is covered in oil/grime and appears to be the source of a very small leak. No warning lights and no oil on floor in garage (yet).
I still have an extended warranty which is ending in a few months so I'm debating what to do about it.
How normal is this? Will it likely get worse and really start leaking a lot?
Is this an easy repair or one that is very involved? I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone if the replacement of the switch/sensor involves dropping the oil pan or even more in depth repair and that might create new problems.
I read somewhere that WIS calls for power train removal to change the o-ring for the oil level switch!??? Please tell me that is wrong!
Thanks for any help and insight.
