That's a tough one and I don't have an easy answer.
Even if you could get to the circlip and remove it and then use some type of slide hammer with some kind of adapter that would grab the intermediate shaft inside behind the splines. When inserting the shaft again through the transfer case, would it interfere with seals not visible at the other end and maybe damage those if you can hold the shaft centered?
I have not had to deal with any XWD Saab's since they are few and far between here so I can't say.
Volvo use a similar style but the right driveshaft and intermediate shaft is a dry run through the transfer case with only a couple of seals for dust protection but still Volvo caution about being careful when putting the shaft back in due to the possibility to damage the seals inside transfer case.
