Strut, spring, and shock query

I've decided to attempt the diy for strut and shock replacement. I'll go with oem and saw the strut for 105 or the whole strut and spring assembly including mounts and bearings oem for 143. I know my mounts and bearings need replacing and since mounts are 25 bucs I'm wondering about doing the strut spring assembly with shocks only for the rear. Is it strange to replace springs only in the front? Further, do springs go bad? I imagine the front go bad before rear and the car has 360k with the original package!
Thanks in advance,
BenR
