It is not common that the fuel gauge is stuck on 3/4 when sending unit is bad but more common that it fluctuates depending on how full the tank is. Sometimes dropping dead when tank is full when worn fingers goes off the grid but comes back to life when fuel level goes down.
So I can't say for sure the fuel pump assembly will fix it but hopefully it will.
With the Tech2 scanner you can operate the gauges to make sure they are ok.
The stability problem could be urgent all depending on what is causing it. Sometimes the ignition switch goes bad and that could escalate in that car stops running or that it does not start sometimes.
