The Saab 9-5 has solar glass standard. I have noticed that my wagon (black w/tan) does not get as hot as my other vehicles.
The better tint films are metallic based which could affect your radio reception as the antenna is in the glass.
As you noted, the Saab lease contract specifically considers tinting in the "excess wear and tear" category. If you tint, ask your installer what it takes to remove it. Do a Google search on "window tint removal" and you will get dozens of sites that describe what can (and can't) be done.
Don't EVEN think about locking your pet in a parked, closed car, even "for a short period of time" - even with a tint. Sorry to get on a soap box there, but that is a serious issue.
Finally, the main advantage of the tint (in my opinion) is cosmetic. The car looks a lot better with it. Have you noticed all of the Saab brochures where the windows "just happen" to be dark...
