Please see my post to Brian. I have had this groan, noise almost since the start of the lease. It is an early V6 turbo. The 4 banger does not make this noise. It has been described to me as having to do with the air pump - I don't know what this pump does (Brian at Saab is going to ask his tech friends for me). I do find, however, just as you say, that the A/C has something to do with it. If I push ECON before shutdown, it greatly reduces the noise upon shutting the motor off. The groan on startup has always been shorter than on shut off. It does not make much of this noise when we have cold weather here in Houston (because of less A/C?). I originally thought it was the turbo whirring to a catacylsmic stop; then, that it was the vacuum storage tank bleeding down. I can't get anyone at Saab (yet) to give me a good explanation; dealer says "it's normal for the V6".
