To Dave K. Right on! Thanks for saying what sometimes really needs to be said. Although a lot pf people post some relevent about product here, then number of totally off the wall things seems to grow daily. Like the people who are going to buy a car and want total strangers to tell them ehat color to buy. Or the person who wonders out loud why his 17 inch wheel and low profile high performance tire either wore out quicker than his old Michelin X tires, or is more subject to pothole damage. DUUH !
The list goes on and on, but what really gets me is when someone with a minor problem on a clearly "in warranty" car needs to ask the world what could be wrong with thier car, gets a bunch of conflicting answers, and then is ultimately going to take the car to his dealer and identify what's wrong and say"please fix it". Why get the problem diagnosed by amatuers? Isn't that what the dealers and the Saab technical staff are paid to do?
One final comment, since I want to leave space on Scott's hard drive for the people who are bound to write in to rip me a new as_hole: Do you think that Saab will prosper with a customer base who bemoans the fact that their 2002 cars do not look like their 1988 ones, who asks whether the fenders are metal or plastic,or who wants to keep his car for 14 years and over 300,000 miles? Does Saab's competition try to do this. I think that secertly they are laughing. Even if a car could last 300K miles, look at all of the technology that would pass you by if you kept your car that long. Would we have T_7 engine management? ABS brakes? ESP? (or ESPN for thatmater)?Bi-Xenon headlights? And that is only the toip of the iceberg.
When we start getting tings like 42 volt electrical systems in the next few years the difference in technology will be even more dramatic than it's been up to now.
Would you rather be there,or back in the 80's with the guy in his 300,000 mile 900?
Enough ranting for now. Here's to new technology !
