I hardwired my radar detector wire using a fuse tap (small metal piece sold at most auto stores in electrical/fuse section) to an ignition controlled fuse in the fuse panel on the left (verticlle) side of the dashboard. Then used a metal bolt under the dash to secure the ground wire. Ran the wires up the A pillar by just pulling up on the pillar trim slightly and pushing the wire under the trim. Once to the headliner, then pulled from of headliner down gently on pushed the wire under the headliner until arriving behind the center light switch pod. For a fairly small detector (mine is a BEL) you can then mount the unit just above the rear view mirror. If you have a larger unit (i.e. Valentine, which is deeped) you would have to lower the mirror (i.e. ala Quasimotors write-up on his 9000 site re how to do this).
