Hello everybody
i´m from Germany and new to this board (well not really, been a lurker for some time). I´m gonna buy a Saab 9-5 in March 2002 and have to decide whether to buy a 185hp 2.3LPT or a 150hp 2.0LPT (which is also offered in Germany). I´m gonna drive the 2.0 with automatic transmission next weekend. I have read a lot on this board about Saab´s 2.3-engine, and how it was refined and improved by Saab over the years. Has the 2.0 also undergone this long development process or is this a completely new engine ? Which engine might run more miles ? Which one will fit better with automatic transmission ? You know i´m not kind of a race driver, i already drove the 2.0 with manual trans and it´s torque kicked ass compared to my current car, so hp isn´t really the important factor. It´s basically a question of two issues:
- which one will last longer ?
- which one runs smoother concerning engine noise ?
Should i still expect much trouble with the turbo in a 2002 model ? As looking at all the posts a lot of people seem to have problems with the turbo.
Greetings
Bernd
