I dealt with this issue for over a year. Finally had ignition switch replaced for $400 thinking that was the problem. The day after the ignition switch was replaced the car failed to start AGAIN. Indy mechanic wanted another $600 for NSS. I went on line and read this post and well, you know, I was eventually going to get around to trying this fix out...
Well that day came about three weeks ago. I came out of the grocery store, had less than an hour to get home, change, feed dogs, pick up hubby, and drive to mom-in-law's house which is 45 minutes away. Of course car would not start. Ten minutes later car would still not start so I went back in the store, bought a box of paper clips, and jumpered the big black wire and white wire right out there in the Kroger parking lot (I recommend that you jam an unbent clip in the back of the plug for each wire and then twist together--easier than trying to get a single bent clip inserted). The car has started EVERY TIME since.
