Well the Aero is totaled...

I usually post over on the 9-3 board, but this board is more relevant for this post.
Well our 2004 Aero is no more. We were rear ended really hard on the I75/I85 connector (for those who know Atlanta) last Tuesday, and I just heard the final verdict from the at fault party's insurance. The car is a complete loss.
We stopped to avoid traffic that stopped very suddenly ahead, and only missed the car in front of us due to the anti lock brakes working so well. The fellow behind us wasn't so lucky, and he must have seen us pretty late. I only heard about 1.5 seconds worth of screeching tires, and figure that he must have still been going 50 MPH or more.
He was driving a Mitsubishi Montero and hit us solidly in the rear bending the frame and pushing the trunk all the way to the shattered rear window. The crumple zone worked perfectly, and we walked away. A passenger in his car broke her arm, and the Montero appeared to be totaled as well. We're OK, and looking for another CPO'ed Aero...
Drive safely out there.
