with the factory folks during the AERO Academy Driving school tech session. It was a GM/SAAB decision to eliminate a redundant added cost item. The thinking was the security system locks the filler door automaticly any time the doors are locked. They added the feature to the prom program that the door will lock automaticly after a specified time once the key is removed from the ignition switch. This function can be turned on or off and the time can be programed if the "ON" function is used.
Personal: I have one of each cars and now that I am getting used to my new AERO I find I like the feature but switching back and forth has been some what of a PITA.
Several discussions were brought up by my daughter (who also has a new AERO) about the elimination of several of the niceties and the answer to that was it was strictly a cost saving item - Lamps in the rear hatch, the net pockets in the "B" pillar, road warning emergency triangles and several other items. These aren't biggies but some of thee SAAB touches we have grown to expect and enjoy in most cases.
