If the SID does say Service Theft Alarm... Take care of this one sooner than later...
When this finally went on my old 9-3, the alarm siren would not be silenced until disconnecting. It just kept screaming and screeching with the alarm going off upsetting me and the neighbors. If this is the case, what happens is that the lithium batteries in the alarm siren die, and need new ones soldered in. Not too bad, but much easier to take care of when it is not screaming at you, ask me how I know :) Or, as another poster suggests, you can have the siren disabled with a Tech II. I liked the alarm as I park outside at night.
It may just be the 'Time for Service' message, which is a bogus reminder. But, I don't think that one has a ding with a warning indicator.
Search on this board for info on how to remove and replace the siren, and your car is old enough that the sirens are still 'servicable'.
Hope this helps, and enjoy your new purchase.
Best regards,
Don
