I want to purchase a car at next weeks auction.T he cars that i am interested in bidding for are a 1999 9-5 auto with a LPT 2.3L Engine and leather or a 1996 E36 318i with a Man g/box and leather. I cant test drive these cars , it is not allowed. A private mechanic has gone over them , driven them and written a VERY detailed report on them (mechanical wise) , both cars get top marks. I have sat in the cars and started them up but that is the most im allowed to do....and believe me ive tried to get a drive organized but they just wont do it , they never have.I want one of these cars because they work out to be ridiculously cheap. This is where i need your help - how do they drive? Has the 2.3LPT AUTO got any "GO"? how does it handle? Anyone driven a 318i man? how does it compare handling and performance wise? anyone got performance times to compare the 2? I have driven a Saab , like this one about 2 years ago and i remember i was rather impressed with its performance although it has such a modest output (170Hp)- i have never driven the 318i Manual but i am told they are not bad and it will keep up to the saab - will it , i wouldnt have thought so?
Thanks for the advice.
Paul
