You forgot this coverage issue:
Because the OnStar phone is analog cellular, it obviously only works where there is coverage. The new Ford/ Volvo system uses a phone that is satellite based, I think (someone correct me here if I am wrong), thus it will work even in extremely remote areas. If you wreck your Saab or Yukon on an isolated back road, you just have to hope someone will come along or you aren't hurt bad enough that you can't walk to the top of a hill so you can use your personal phone!
I think this is a serious concern for a few people, and a non-issue for most. It does bother me some.....
