Well, many thanks to all. Here is my take-away
1)Its phone service is way over market on a per-minute basis.
2)Coverage is somewhat better than average except when it isn't (one still gets "no service" upon unpredictable occassions).
3)It is "hands-free" because there is no other way to dial a number (absent a key pad), causing problems for any contacted phone menu which requires you to punch in an access code.
4)The navigation feature really only tells you where the operator thinks you are. Beyond that, it's value is solely a function of the operator's ability to read a map better than you can yourself and your ability to understand and recall (record) a recitation of the directions.
5)Its wiring conplicates or prevents installation of your own phone or after-market navigation package.
6)It is not optional; and
7)It is, therefore, hundreds of dollars a year.
