On the fill and drain method it is best to use the same type of fluid that is in the transmission so not to mix fluids but on a trans mission that is dry it is not as important to use the same fluid (as stated by Wright SAAB). I also recommend that a tranny flush is done at least before 150k. I had a 99 lpt that i bought at 163k never had one done and i did not know that. transmission was fried by 180k but had total swap done with the use of a use tranny for $800.
