Yeah, the lower lip on my '04 looks pretty nasty. I was going to paint it or have it done but I have found that it scrapes on EVERYTHING. I haven't hit a curb with it or anything yet, but any decent incline and scraaaape. It is what it is.
And yeah, the 9-5's don't have problems with the middle mufflers rotting out. My last 9-5's exhaust lasted to 180k miles, and it was the rear muffler that gave up first.
