I agree with Paul in NM
You have the tools handy and the areas should still be clean and easy to work in; the process of removing the belt again is too simple not to do it. I can easily visualize the belt being torn up or worse. You need total concentration to listen for the sounds - I'd be waiting for calamity and I wouldn't be able to learn a thing knowing what might happen AND I'd want to be tucked down in there to hear and I ain't doing that with a belt waiting to go wrong on me.
