Driver side seat belt retractor is getting tired on my 1999 9-5 and leaving enough belt slack when unbuckled to end up being slammed in door frame. Buckle is intact so far, but door trim and paint are taking a beating. Too hard to always remember to feed slack up into door pillar. I have WIS and read all precautions before pulling door pillar trim off to see what is what. Such as WARNING - EXPLOSIVE!!! (For instant restraint system. )Seems that just getting the retractor to tighten up by one revolution would do the trick to make up for a slightly tired internal wind spring. Anybody try tackling this by getting the retractor apart to do this? Looks like retractor roller cage is not take-apartable, but maybe plastic case with internal spring can be? I'm not interested in another tired used belt assembly or a brand new mega-money one (if even available).
Thanx,
Kirk D
