I think you'll be fine. Posted by PGAero [Email] (#1143) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PGAero) on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 10:44:58 In Reply to: Fuel Pump Replacement Advice ?, Mark in Marine (MN), Fri, 23 Mar 2012 19:29:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just replaced the pump unit in my brother's '01 LPT. It's pretty straight forward, and you seem to have enough background to make it work.
I had to cut the new fuel line pretty short to make sure it wouldn't interrupt the smooth operation of the level sensor.
The symptoms you describe sound very similar to my brother's. It drove, then died... then started a while later and wouldn't start the next time he parked it. We did check to make sure the pump was getting power (it was), then ordered the new Walbro pump. It took me a couple of hours. The 90-degree fittings (check valve) came out much easier than they did in my 9000 a few years ago when that one went out.
