Need to know type of engine I4 / V6 year and how many miles. Assume I4. Are you talking about the top hose that goes into the radiator? I think so and if the top plastic pipe goes, you will probably have to replace the radiator. Had to do this on a 9-5 i4 1999 when we replaced the pipe and over torqued with regular hose clamp (instead of the OEM type). Anyway, this cracked the plastic pipe (I think, could have failed) (which I thought was metal), and then had to eventually replace the radiator. This is not a terrible job, just have to take the fans out and few bolts, the lower hose and out and in.
Now, if you are getting pressure, then it could be from a leaking head gasket. As the pistons come up they are pressurizing the system and the gasket is working like a one way valve. This can be solved by purchasing a set of head bolts and go though the procedure to replace them. One at a time from center to outside and torque to spec (found on the board), but I usually end up around 80-90 ftlbs. If this fixes your pressure problem, then good, else may have to replace the head gasket. This is about a $40 try and I think worth it.
Once you replace the radiator, and you can test for high pressure, usually the water in the plastic coolant container will "go away" (get pressurized out). Then you loosen the cap and the coolant gurgles back in. This is a typical "Head Gasket One Way Valve Pressure" issue.
Good luck and keep us informed how it turns out.
