Anders,
Thanks for the additional tips. I just picked up used expansion tank cap- drove for 20 miles with it with no problem. I noticed that my old cap had a bad thread, maybe even tank too- if I try to tighten it up- it loosens up.
When I got home, coolant level was OK, tank was dry, no spills, but I heard little his in the thermostat area. Need to do more pocking around.
Will try your test with cooling fans tomorrow.
